Should You Install Foam Roof Insulation
Nothing can ruin your home like poor roof protection. Not only is it incredibly irritating to hear the wind blow the tiles on your roof up and down but it can also lead to wind and rain damage to your home and personal property. Foam roof insulation is the perfect solution to correcting this issue before it becomes a costly problem.
It has a very high R value that equates to roughly twice the R value that you would receive from standard fiberglass insulation.
Foam insulation on the roofs of mobile home and trailers double the roof's R value. It is nearly impossible the air condition buildings such as barns, livestock operations and other commercial buildings. The benefit of keeping livestock comfortable and stress free will return to the owner in the form of profits because of healthy animals. Foam roof insulation is very versatile. It can be painted or roofed over with shingles or asphalt layering. Foam insulation is quite affordable; you will waste money running your air conditioner without being well insulated.
On trailers and mobile homes foam roof insulation can work wonders and can easily double the total R value on your roof. For barns and commercial buildings foam roof insulation works wonders and will work to fend off the heat in these types of structures that are so expensive or impossible to keep air conditioned.
In warm climates especially, SPF roofing will pay for itself with reduced energy bills on cooling. Studies show that this roofing material pays for itself in 4-5 years. Some systems have even lowered energy use by 50%. When your HVAC is just replacing cool air instead of adding to it, you can never have a truly efficient system. Few other roofing systems will pay for themselves ever. For the two polymers in the foam to correctly combine, the spraying must be done right.
Foam roof insulation looks great too, is fully paintable and also can be roofed over with a wide variety of roofing materials including shingles and asphalt layer roofing. Foam roof insulation is also surprisingly affordable and if you are running your air conditioner to keep cool then you are throwing money out the window unless you have your roof properly insulated.

Can I insulate with foam sheathing under my mobile home?
I want to use foam sheathing to insulate under my mobile home. I would be putting it over the existing insulation blanket already in place.
How can I attach it and is this a good idea ? Would it cause condensation to form anywhere ?
it would be difficult to insulate with the rigid sheeting. the duct work and plumbing are run beneath the floor joists. condensation will form between the two as well. a better solution is to use "frost blankets" to overlay the existing belly. Construction company's use these to keep concrete warm so it doesn't freeze in the fall and sometimes to take out a surface frost for pouring concrete in the same situation. They are flexible and don't contain materials that end up every where you dont want them when cut to place it. start at one end and tuck the blanket over the top of the metal cross members and under the existing belly. Some places it is really a tight squeeze. Staple it on one side along the frame leaving it long and then screw a 2x2 over the top to secure along the frame. Then pull the blanket tight to the oposite frame and again fasten with a 2x2 screwed through to the floor joists along the frame. In the past people have used blown in insulation injected through the belly skinn and filled the void between the floor and the belly. This is a BIG MISTAKE! plumbing leaks that would only be troublesome become horror stories, frozen lines are difficult to thaw unless insulation is removed
