2008 Ninja 650R transmission clunk?
Hi all, I have a new Ninja 650R with1700miles. Not my first bike, and I know a good bit about motorcycles and quads. myquestion: When I shift from N to 1 cold or warm, it makes this god awefull "Crunch" and lurches forward a bit. I've adjusted the clutch cable and handle for maximum throw, but still does it. from 1 to 2 also is usually a big "clang" too. all other gears are nice and smooth. If i'm really triying to accel fast and rip through the gears, it's okay. but driving normally, it's quite noticable. now it has done this since 5 miles new. i am running amsoil, with a magnetic drain plug too. I dont beat on it or wheelstand or anything. any ideas. (I am very familiar with motorcycle engines and trans, and am confident rebuilding them on my own).
All my bikes have made a fairly loud noise changing in the lower gears and I have had 5 and ridden countless. In the UK the "ninja" 650 is called an ER6F which is a buget bike, it will not have the smoothest transmisson in the world. If you are worried take it to a dealers being an 08 bike it will be under warranty.
